Similar to the tool that allows for mass edit of matches, a tool to mass edit assignment status is needed, particularly for tournament settings, but also for league play.
Main use cases:
Reassign auto-declines in mass to the same officials.
Declines (manual) vs auto-decline — the info needed for this tool is the same as in the “All Assignments” report (i.e. current assignments). We’ll need to include a column that differentiates between declines that were manually declined by the official (i.e. they are not available), and declines that were the result of the auto-decline deadline settings.
Assignors would like the ability to select all the auto-declines and reassign them to the same officials. Those that were manually declined will most likely be reassigned to another official (with some rare exceptions for end-user errors, pleading via phone, etc.)
An icon in the assigning workspace that indicates an auto-decline would be helpful to distinguish those declines from manual declines.
Some assignors fantasize about a toggle that gives them options to display the names from manual declines only, auto-declines only, all, or none.
Accept assignments in mass on behalf of officials.
This use case tends to occur in tournament settings when a mass edit of a match detail (field or location change, slight time change) occurs, communication is provided about the change en masse, and the match detail change results in assignments going from accepted back to assigned. Assignors will often broadcast the change to the group, then accept the matches on behalf of the officials en masse.
Using filters, the assignors would curate the list of assignment statuses, be able to select individual assignments or “select all”, then have options to update the assignment status to anything it currently isn’t.
